Your dog will be taught what they don't know. They'll learn to see their handler as relevant, to work together, ignore distractions, how to problem solve and make good decisions, focus on the basics, walk on a loose leash or at an off leash heel, have fun with their pack mates, and just 'be' around real world distractions. All while gaining confidence and greater freedom.

Adventures are a mix of on & off leash, while Walks are on leash*.

  • Joining the pack.

Dogs are first assessed with one or more Trial Walks to determine if they’re a good fit for a pack, and test or teach skills. If successful, dogs are booked into a regular weekly slot, and head out on the same day each week to establish pack bonds and routine.

Initially on leash, they'll work on the basics, social skills, and building a relationship with me. They then progress to a longer leash, then more freedom (Adventures only). Freedom may take weeks or months.

You’ll receive updates, advice, and occasional "homework" to ensure success.

What I offer is quite different to your dog being in a confined space like daycare or the backyard. They'll be on the move, getting to use their noses and interacting with other dogs, and using their body and mind in those ways will use a lot more of their physical and mental energy than a usual walk, a runaround or spending all day at daycare. For this reason, exercise time is capped.

THE DETAILS

Why we're different.

From pick-up to drop-off, I help your dog maintain a calm and balanced state of mind, go with the flow of the pack, and focus on their “job.” I spend time bonding with each dog, getting to know them, and how they learn. This helps me better match dogs, energies, and temperaments, and keep dogs learning and working together.

Pack sizes are limited to allow for individual attention, and new dogs are slowly introduced to make sure they find their place.

Few treats are needed, if any - dogs are taught to keep their handler relevant through mutual trust and respect, not food.

When starting out, dogs stay on leash to learn the ropes from their handler and pack. This helps set expectations, establish a relationship, and minimise the risk of the dog running off.

I'm here to support both you and your dog in living their best life, so you may be given guidance or homework as needed, without judgement.

Why all the rules?

Taking your dog out is a big responsibility.

While dogs zooming round looks fun, if that's all they do and they're allowed to stay in silly states of mind with no rules, and only food to attempt control, mistakes can happen. It can lead to dogs running off out of sight, getting lost or injured, getting attacked, developing poor social skills or being a nuisance to others. Add in hazards likes cliffs, roads, toxic algae and fast rivers, and it quickly becomes dangerous.

Rules are there to keep your dog safe and under control. They keep the dogs together, help dogs stay in a calm and thoughtful mind and to see their handler as relevant in their decision making.

Your dog is too precious to not have rules in place.
